Eternal God

The first of the ten commandments that God gave to Moses and the Israelites stands out:

You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments. (Exode 20:3-6, NKJV).

God told the Israelite not to have any other god but Himself and He is the same yesterday, today and forever, as John puts it: "Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen." (1 John 5:21, NKJV).

An idol can be a man: "because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever! Amen." (Romans 1:25, ESV).

Jesus said that the only true God is the Father who is worthy of all praise. When Jesus was tempted by the devil in the wilderness: "Jesus said to him: Be gone, Satan! For it is written, "You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve."" (Matthieu 4:10, ESV).

Holiness

God is holy: "For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name." (Luke 1:49, NKJV).

Jesus calls God "Holy Father" (John 17:11, NKJV).

God is holy and wants a holy people: "because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy." (1 Peter 1:16, NKJV). Jesus Christ sanctifies.

Anyone who goes through the water baptism and the baptism of the Holy Spirit is sanctified.

And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God, (1 Corinthians 6:11, NKJV).

The names of Jesus

Jesus Christ

Christ in Hebrew is mashiach (messiah): the deliverer and the saviour. in Greek Christ means anointed. The messiah has the anointing of God. So Christ means both messiah and anointed.

Jesus means saviour, the one who delivers, the deliverer.

Another name for Jesus: Immanuel

"Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel." (Isaiah 7:14, NKJV). Immanuel means God with us.

Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace

Isaiah prophesied about the messiah, he said:

For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6, NKJV).

It is Jesus Christ the messiah.

The Bright and Morning Star

Jesus said: "I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star." (Revelation 22:16, NKJV)

The good shepherd

And Jesus said that he is the good shepherd who gives life abundantly: "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep." (John 10:11, NKJV).

The name by which we are saved

Jesus is the name that saves: "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12, NKJV).

Prophecies

Jesus fulfilled all the prophecies concerning the messiah uttered by the prophets under the old covenant (in the Old Testament).

Jesus' birth

The phophet Isaiah prophesied that a virgin would give birth to the messiah.

Mary was a virgin when Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit in her womb. Joseph wanted to break up with her.

But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit." (Matthew 1:20, NKJV).

The prophet Micah prophesied that the messiah would come forth from Bethlehem of Judea.

Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, as Joseph of the lineage of David had to be registered with Mary in Bethlehem because of the census decreed by Caesar Augustus;

But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting. (Micah 5:2, NKJV).

The prophet Isaiah announced the birth of the son of God:

For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6, NKJV)

The prophet Hosea predicted the events after Jesus was born.

After Jesus' birth, Joseph, Mary and the baby Jesus went to Egypt to flee King Herod who wanted to kill the child. They returned to Galilee after he died. "And out of Egypt I called My son." (Hosea 11:1-b, NKJV)

Jesus' ministry

Jesus said that he came to do his Father's will.

Jesus fulfilled Isaiah's prophecy concerning the savior.

Jesus Christ read the prophecy of Isaiah to the Jews in the synagogue:

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn. (Isaiah 61:1-2, NKJV).

The sufferings of Christ

The prophet Isaiah predicted the sufferings of Christ and his death in order to atone for the sins of men (men : means men and women).

He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:3-5, NKJV)

Jesus was raised from the dead

David predicted Jesus Christ's resurrection. David spoke of Christ when he said that his soul would not be abandoned:

"For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore." (Psalm 16:10-11, NKJV).

David died and was buried with his ancestors, whereas Jesus Christ was raised from the dead as Paul testified about it:

For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and saw corruption; but He whom God raised up saw no corruption. Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses. (Acts 13:36-39, NKJV).

God and Jesus are one

Jesus has the divine nature of God.

"For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;" (Colossians 2:9, NKJV).

God and Jesus are father and son and they are one.

"Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake." (John 14:11, ASV).

"The works" are the healings, miracles, resurrections (people raised from the dead), the multiplying of food performed by Jesus. Demons can make people suffer greatly and Jesus cast out demons and delivered people from the oppression of the devil.

Jesus and God are one, and by the Holy Spirit (the glory) we can be one in them : "And the glory which thou hast given me I have given unto them; that they may be one, even as we are one;" (John 17:22, ASV).

Is man good?

The bible tells us that God is good and man is bad. Man has a sinful nature.

Why does sin exist?

God created man without sin to have fellowship with him. But man disobeyed the commandment of God:

And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die." (Genesis 2:16-17, NKJV)

Adam and Eve ate the fruit of the forbidden tree and sin entered them and spread to all humanity:

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned (Romans 5:12, NKJV).

Nobody can escape death: \"What man can live and not see death? Can he deliver his life from the power of the grave?" (Psalm 89:48, NKJV)

All men are accountable for their own sin. "So then each of us shall give account of himself to God." (Romans 14:12, NKJV).

Sin is punished by death and eternal separation from God: "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23, NKJV).

Jesus delivers us from sin and gives us eternal life.

Jesus paid the ransom

Jesus saves us from sin and death. Jesus gave himself up as a sacrifice for all mankind to redeem them. Men are held hostage by sin and the devil; Jesus paid the ransom to give them back to God, their heavenly Father. "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many." (Mark 10:45, NKJV).

Jesus' sacrifice

God established as law that almost everything should be purified with blood.

According to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. (Hebrews 9:22, NKJV)

Under the old covenant, the Jews offered sacrifices of animals to be purified of their sins. God gave his only begotten son as a perfect sacrifice. The son of God's blood was shed for us. The blood of animals cleanses only the flesh, the blood of Jesus cleanses our conscience of our dead works.

Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (Hebrews 9:12-14, NKJV).

Jesus is the perfect sacrifice to save men and he was raised from the dead on the third day, that is why he can save all men perfectly as he is alive.

Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. (Hebrews 7:25, NKJV).

The new covenant

God has established a new covenant with men through Jesus Christ. According to God's law, a covenant can only be made when there is shedding of blood, and the blood of Jesus was shed to establish the new covenant. "Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you." (Luke 22:20, NKJV).

The new covenant replaces the old one that God had established with the Israelite through Moses.

This old covenant is called the "ministry of death" (2 Corinthians 3:7) as those who did not obey the law were punished even by death. The new covenant is called the "ministry of righteousness" (2 Corinthians 3:9) as Jesus came to save men and not to condemn them. "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." (John 3:17, NKJV).

Jesus at the cross

Jesus suffered much before going to the cross, his sweat was like drops of blood, and he asked God to spare him this punishment and then he submitted to God. Jesus did not deserve the punishment of the cross as it was intended for criminals. He did not commit any crime or sin. He was innocent.

Why was Jesus crucified?

He died on the cross for mankind. He became sin for mankind so that we could become righteous through him.

At the cross Jesus suffered all the more as big nails pierced through his hands and feet and the presence of God left him: " And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?" which translate as "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?"" (Mark 15:34, NKJV).

God forsook Jesus at the cross so that he would become sin in order to justify us: "For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." (2 Corinthians 5:21, NKJV)

God did not leave Jesus in Sheol or Hades (the place where the dead go). On the third day, God raised him from the dead by his power. He did not forsake Jesus because he loves him. "Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again." (John 10:17, NKJV).

Jesus the only way to God

Jesus is the only mediator between God and men: "For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus," (1 Timothy 2:5, NKJV). We can only come to God through Jesus Christ. Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6, NKJV).

Jesus Christ has opened a way for us when he gave himself up as a sacrifice on the cross to atone for the sins of mankind.

We have access to God through Christ, "for through him we both have our access in one Spirit unto the Father." (Ephesians 2:18, ASV).

Mary

The angel Gabriel told Mary that she would give birth to the son of the living God:

Then the angel said, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end." (Luke 1:30-33, NKJV).

After the angel spoke to her, Mary said of herself: "Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her. (Luke 1:38, NKJV).

Mary called herself a servant of the Lord, she believed what the angel told her and she obeyed God.

She was a virgin when Jesus was conceived in her womb through the Holy Spirit. Her husband did not touch her before Jesus' birth. Mary was not a virgin any longer when she gave birth to her children. Jesus is the Savior of the world, the only begotten son of God.

Repentance

God lives in holiness and men cannot see Him. Sin has built a wall between God and men. Jesus delivers us from sin. God calls men to repent of their sins. Repentance means asking God for forgiveness in the name of Jesus Christ, turning away from sin and not sinning again. The parable of the new wine shows the importance of repentance.

Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call." (Acts 2:38-39, NKJV).

Born again

We were all born of a woman, our mother, that is to say from the flesh. Jesus said to get born again, of water and the Spirit, to enter God's kingdom (John 3:5).

To get born again means to get born of God. There is the baptism of water and the baptism of the Spirit when we receive the gift of the Spirit (Acts 2:38).

Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call." (Acts 2:38-39, NKJV)

The Holy Spirit or the Spirit of God is also called the Spirit of Christ. It is a good thing to get born again in a church, in an assembly of born again believers.

Water baptism

Water baptism or immersion into water depicts the burial; being immersed in water is like going through the same baptism as Jesus Christ did when he died on the cross. As he was raised from the dead by the power of God, when we come out of the water, we are raised with Jesus Christ in newness of life; "For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection," (Romans 6:5, NKJV).

do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. (Romans 6:3-4, NKJV)

When we are water baptised in Jesus Christ, the power of sin is broken over us, we are no longer slave to sin. The sinful nature was crucified:

knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin.(Romans 6:6-7, NKJV)

When we are water baptized in Jesus Christ, we have passed from death to life (Romans 6:8-11).

An example of water baptism in the bible

In Acts 8:38, Philip baptizes a high-ranking official of Candace, Queen of Ethiopia after he has explained the gospel of Jesus to him:

So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him. Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing. (Acts 8:38-39, NKJV)

sheep

Baptism with the Holy Spirit

When we repent of our sins and are water baptised that is to say immersed in water, God forgives our sins and we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38).

Jesus Christ baptizes with the Holy Spirit. When he died on the cross, he was raised from the dead and went to heaven to send the Holy Spirit (John 16:7). John the Baptist who prepared the way for Jesus Christ said that Jesus would baptize men with the Holy Spirit:

"I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire." (Matthew 3:11, NKJV).

God gives the Holy Spirit to those who ask him (Luke 11:13).

Peter saw the manifestation of the Holy Spirit as Cornelius and a group of people started praising God and speaking in tongues (Acts 10:44-46).

The Holy Spirit gives life to our mortal bodies (Romans 8:11).

The Holy Spirit gives us the power to become children of God:

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:12-13, NKJV).

sheep

Baptism with fire

The baptism with fire is the sanctification of the believers. The fire means also the lake of fire for those who don't obey the gospel of Jesus Christ, John the Baptist said:

"He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire." (Matthew 3:11, NKJV)

How can we enter God's kingdom?

We can enter it when we believe in Jesus et are born again and are part of an assembly of born again believers.

Jesus answered, Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. (John 3:5, NKJV).

sheep

The comforter

Jesus Christ called the Holy Spirit the Comforter (ASV) or Helper (NKJV) (John 15:26).

But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall bear witness to me (John 15:26, ASV)

God comforts us so that we can comfort and help those who are afflicted and they too are comforted by God. (2 Corinthians 1:3-7).

And Jesus sent the Comforter, the Holy Spirit when he rose from the dead and went to heaven :

Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I go, I will send him unto you. (John 16:7, ASV).

Witnesses of Jesus Christ

Moses bore witness to Jesus Christ

He said that a prophet is coming after him and he should be listened to (Deuteronomy 18:15 and 18). Jesus confirmed that Moses spoke about him (John 5:45-47, NKJV).

John the Baptist bore witness to Jesus Christ

John the Baptist who was sent "to make straight the way of the LORD" (John 1:23, NKJV) said that Jesus is "the Lamb of God who takes away the sin from the world" (John 1:29, NKJV).

God bears witness to Jesus

Jesus said that according to the law the testimony of two men is true, so God bears witness to Jesus and Jesus bears witness to himself (John 8:16-18, NKJV). Jesus says that the Father is with him so his judgment is true (John 8:16, NKJV). God testified that Jesus Christ is his beloved son when he was water baptised and the Spirit came down on him as a dove, and also when Jesus was transfigured. (Matthew 3:17 and 17:5, NKJV).

For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." (2 Peter 1:17, NKJV).

The works that Jesus did

The miracles and healings performed by Jesus testify that God sent him (John 5:36, NKJV).

sheep

The gifts of the Spirit

The Miracles, signs and wonders as reported in the Acts of the Apostles are still available today: "Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles." (Acts 2:43, NKJV).

The Holy Spirit is manifested in signs and wonders but also in other gifts such as, among others, words of wisdom and knowledge, faith, prophecies and varieties of tongues. Speaking in tongue means speaking languages of men and angels (1 Corinthians 14:1).

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. (1 Corinthians 12:7-11, NKJV).

sheep

God is love

God loves all men without distinction. He is no respecter of person. He wants all men to be saved. Love is most important: "And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love." (1 Corinthians 13:13, NKJV).

God is love (1 John 4:8).

Out of love for mankind God gave his begotten son to save us: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life." (John 3:16, ASV).

sheep

Healing and prosperity

Psalm 23 shows us how much God cares for his sheep.

The believers are compared to sheep in the bible and God and Jesus Christ is their shepherd.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake. (Psalm 23:1-3, NKJV).

The "green pastures" and the "still waters" are the food and drink that God gives to his children, He provides for their needs.

God heals their psychical wounds; He "restores" their "soul".

Jesus said : "I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture." (John 10:9, NKJV)

Unlike the thief who comes "to steal, and to kill, and to destroy", Jesus is the good shepherd who gives us life abundantly, (John 10:10).

sheep

The church

The Church is the assembly of the believers (1 Corinthians 14:23). The bible doesn't talk about a church but "the church" and the "church of the living God" (1 Timothy 3:15, ASV). All those who are born again are part of it. It is the body of Christ, Jesus is its head (Colossians 1:18).

Paul said to the Christians in Corinth : "Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually." (1 Corinthians 12:27, NKJV). So the church is not a building but a living body, even the body of Christ; Christ who is alive and seated at the right hand of God.

The church is also "the pillar and ground of the truth", and "the house of God" (1 Timothy 3:15, NKJV). There is the local church also called "assembly" which is the church of God, a local church believes in all the word of God which is the bible and puts His word into practice.

sheep

The Jews

God had made a covenant with Abraham and his son Isaac and with his descendants after him: the Israelites. They are called Israelites because they are descendants of Israel. Israel is the name that God gave to Jacob, the son of Isaac (Genesis 32:28). The circumcision of the flesh is the sign of the covenant. Jacob had twelve sons, founders of the twelve tribes of Israel. God made the promise to Abraham that all the nations of the earth would be blessed in his seed. Now Jesus Christ is his seed; he was conceived by the Holy Spirit in Mary's womb, Joseph's wife, Joseph being a descendant of Abraham. And Jesus Christ came from God. Moses told the Israelites about Jesus. Moses told the Israelites that God would raise a prophet like him that they would have to listen to:

The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear (Deuteronomy 18:15, NKJV).
I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. And it shall be that whoever will not hear My words, which He speaks in My name, I will require it of him (Deuteronomy 18:18-19, NKJV).

God established a new covenant with men through Jesus Christ. In the new covenant, the circumcision is that of the heart and no longer that of the flesh (Romans 2:28-29).

Under the old covenant, the people of God are circumcised in the flesh, under the new covenant the people of God are circumcised in their heart, it is the circumcision of Christ.

In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of flesh in the circumcision of Christ. (Colossians 2:11, RSV).

Victory

This article answers the question why, if God exists, there are so many evil things in the world.

The answer is that the devil is the god of this world; he makes evil things happen because he is evil. The bible says that he is the god of this world and he doesn't want men to know the truth of God:

But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. (2 Corinthians 4:3-4, NKJV).

When somebody is not on God's side, he is on the devil's one, even if he doesn't believe that he exists. The devil corrupts the entire world: "We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one" (1 John 5:19, NKJV).

Jesus defeated the devil at the cross; he took the keys of death and hades from the devil.

The devil will be thrown into the lake of fire with all his demons (Revelation 20:10).

Jesus gives us eternal life (1 John 5:9-13). The apostle John said:

\"He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.\" (John 3:36, NKJV).

Jesus Christ has the victory over the devil and He gives us the victory.

Let us believe in Jesus Christ to have the victory in him.

sheep

Escaping condamnation

When we believe in Jesus we are saved. But if anyone hears about him and does not believe, he is judged:

For God sent not the Son into the world to judge the world; but that the world should be saved through him. He that believeth on him is not judged: he that believeth not hath been judged already, because he hath not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God (John 3:17-18, ASV).

When we believe and are baptised we are saved:

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to the whole creation. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that disbelieveth shall be condemned (Mark 16:15-16, ASV)

God has a book of life where all those who obey the gospel of Jesus Christ are recorded. Those who are not written in the book of life will be thrown into the lake of fire with the devil and his angels:

And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where are also the beast and the false prophet; and they shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. (Revelation 20:10, ASV).

"And if any was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire." (Revelation 20:15, ASV).

Paradise

In the book of Revelation, we find a description of paradise as a glorious city shining like a precious stone (Revelation 21:11). It is the new Jerusalem (Revelation 21:2) and God gives it light and Jesus is its lamp, no need of a sun and a moon (Revelation 21:23).

Nobody impure will enter the city, only those who have their names written in the Lamb's book of life (Revelation 21:27). Jesus sets us free from sin (John 8:36).
